Sílica Gel Bulk

We sell white, blue and orange (amber) bulk silica gel.

White silica gel: It is the most used desiccant silica in products and materials and is approved for food and medicine.

Blue silica gel: silica gel with moisture indicator obtained by dyeing white silica gel with cobalt chloride solution. As silica gel adsorbs moisture, its color changes to pink.

Orange silica gel (amber): Silica gel with moisture indicator and also obtained by dyeing white silica gel. When tinted with food grade dye its color changes to amber yellow, almost white when saturated with moisture. When tinted with methyl violet, its color changes to dark green.

Silica gel, whose chemical formula is SiO2, is a synthetic substance derived from the reaction of sodium silicate and sulfuric acid. It is an important desiccant and dehydrating compound, that is, capable of retaining the humidity of certain environments, mechanism that occurs by physical adsorption (process in which the molecules of a liquid adhere to the surface of the desiccant).

This substance is useful in preserving products and materials, protecting them from the harmful effects of moisture, air oxidation and fungal propagation. Normally, it is recommended to use 1 kg of silica gel for each cubic meter of area to be protected.

Generally, the adsorption capacity of this substance is about 30% of its weight, losing its desiccant effect as it is used.
